MANATEE – A 24-year-old woman was killed early Sunday after losing control of her vehicle and striking a tree in Manatee County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.Around 12:19 a.m. on Saturday, Andrea Faith Rivas Lopez of Bradenton was driving a 1995 Mazda Protege with passenger Candida Lagos, 34, of Bradenton, at U.S. 301 and Manatee Road.Lopez was going south on Manatee Road when she went onto the grass shoulder, according to FHP. She swerved to the left to go back onto the road, but overcorrected the vehicle.She lost control and traveled across both north and southbound lanes, exiting the road onto the grassy shoulder on the road’s east side.The right side of the vehicle then hit a tree and rotated clockwise around it and overturned onto the driver’s side, according to FHP.The vehicle stopped on the driver’s side.Lopez was pronounced dead at Blake Medical Center. Lagos suffered minor injuries.
